More Than a Team. We’re a Pack.

At Katy Wolf Pack, every athlete has a place to compete, grow, belong and be celebrated. Sports bring us together, but the friendships, confidence and community we build are what make us a Pack.

Our Story
From Eight Athletes to One Incredible Pack
The Katy Wolf Pack story began in the spring of 1999 with a simple belief: athletes in the Katy community deserved a place to compete, belong and shine.
Parents Robin Judman and Patsy Hopkins advocated for Special Olympics opportunities for their sons and other Katy-area athletes. With support from Katy ISD and special education teacher Don Wolf, a group of just eight athletes began training in track alongside the Alief Superstars. That first season culminated at the 1999 Special Olympics Summer Games at Rice University—and marked the beginning of something much bigger.
The program soon grew beyond the school district, creating opportunities for athletes of different ages and skill levels to participate in competitive sports. Originally known as the Katy Stampede, the delegation was later renamed the Katy Wolf Pack in honor of Don Wolf and his dedication to the Katy special needs community.
What began with eight athletes and one sport has grown into a thriving Special Olympics community serving 200+ athletes and hundreds of families throughout Katy and the surrounding area.
More than 25 years later, the heart of the Wolf Pack remains the same: creating opportunities for athletes to compete, build confidence, form lifelong friendships and experience the pride of being part of a team.
Our Mission
Katy Wolf Pack provides year-round sports training and competition opportunities for athletes with intellectual disabilities in Katy and the surrounding communities. Through the power of sport, we strive to build confidence, encourage friendships, celebrate achievement and create a community where every athlete has the opportunity to belong, compete and thrive.

More Than a Medal
Every athlete’s journey with Katy Wolf Pack is different. For some, success means crossing a finish line or earning a medal. For others, it’s learning a new skill, gaining the confidence to try something new, or simply feeling like part of a team.
Through practices, competitions and time spent together, Wolf Pack athletes have opportunities to challenge themselves, celebrate their accomplishments and build friendships along the way. Those moments—big and small—are what make being part of the Pack so meaningful.
One Incredible Pack
From eight athletes to hundreds of families, we’ve grown—but we’ve always been one Pack.
